We all know spiders and unfortunately most of us actually hate them. That’s why it’s a very good idea to see what they really are, where they live and also figure out a great way to understand them more efficiently.
What are spiders?
Spiders are arthropods that have chlicerae with fangs, eight legs and they can use the fangs in order to inject venom. You can find around 45700 species of spiders in the world and because there are so many of them, you can see 114 families that make categorizing them a lot easier and more precise.
It’s important to know that unlike other insects these do not have antennae and the body segments that they have are fused into tagmatas, two of them to be more precise. These are joined via a cylindrical pedicel.
An interesting thing about spiders is that they have one of the most centralized nervous systems that you can find in the case of all arthropods, which makes them highly intelligent. This is understandable, considering the way they move to attack their prey and the elaborate attacks they plan in order to catch it.
They do not have extensor muscles in limbs and that means they use other means of movement. In this case, they focus on using hydraulic pressure to get around, something that does help them quite a lot and makes them deeply mobile.
Where do spiders live?
Because they have a body that protects them against a wide range of climate changes, you can easily find spiders just about anywhere on the globe. They are easy to spot in many habitats and while some are venomous, not all of them tend to approach this method of protection, others instead prefer to stay safe by sitting in environments where the humans rarely pass.
You can’t find spiders in the polar regions, the oceans and the highest mountains. Other than that though, you can find them anywhere, especially in the regions with a lot of humidity as they do like such a thing. There are a few species of spiders that can be found in the ocean’s edge and some actually live under rocks so you can indeed find spiders just about anywhere in the world. It’s a good idea to check the new region you want to move in for spiders as this can be quite a nuisance for people in the entire world, not only the US.
How do spiders reproduce?
The reproduction process for spiders is quite interesting, because all starts with the male spider creating a sperm web that is filled with his sperm and he will hold it in the palps. The spider will then go towards the female and he will try to deposit his sack into an opening outside of the abdomen of the female spider. When the process is complete, the female will start to fertilize the eggs with the sperm that she received from the male spider and then she will lay them in an egg sac.
This is quite an interesting type of reproduction for sure and it does manage to bring in front quite a unique way of reproduction, but one that’s unique to say the least. The best thing about this type of reproduction is that the female is free to deposit the eggs anywhere she wants without any problem and then she can protect them if needed. It’s surely one of the most refined ways to lay eggs and reproduce that can be found in the entire animal world.
